The pros and cons of snow....

It has been snowing now for three whole days.
This morning I started the car and then went to de-ice it ready to take Jérémie to work. There was about 10cm of snow on the car. The whole process takes a good 10 minutes as drivers have to ensure that their cars are totally snow free or risk a fine if pulled over by the police.

For several reasons we arranged that Indiana and I would pick Jérémie up for lunch. It snowed non stop all morning so by the time I needed to leave to go to lunch there was another good 10cm of snow which meant another lot of scraping and digging.

While we sat eating lunch, it snowed and snowed and snowed and within about 45 minutes the car was once again covered!
Indiana and I went shopping after dropping Jérémie off.  The snow was quite deep at this point and no one could see the parking lines so it was a bit hit and miss.
I had quite a long list of groceries to buy and I don't know my way around the store yet so it took me a good 45 minutes. I have to be careful because if I stop to look at something down one of the aisles, Indiana often picks something up and puts it in the trolly whether I want/need it or not!!

So as we got out of the store it was STILL snowing. I didn't think about the fact that it is impossible to push (or even pull) a trolly through about a foot of snow. I kept giggling because the situation was so odd compared to what we've been used to (i.e. no snow) and in the end a lady took pity on me and helped me to get the trolly over to my car.

Then, when we got back home, I realised that I couldn't find the car keys and after having retraced my steps, realised that I must have dropped them in the snow outside. So I got the house keys out and dropped them on the snow and they were swallowed up.

Needle and haystack immediately sprang to mind. Plus the snow plough had been round the carpark at the back of our appartment so the key could have been anywhere by that point. I looked everywhere in the car (I last remembered putting it in my coat pocket before tending to Indiana and it had fallen out). I got the spade out and dug round the car, but nothing.

Then it was time to go and pick Jérémie up - so this time, not only did I have to brush all the snow off the car, but I havd to actually dig the wheels out as they were just spinning freely when the car was in reverse.

Anyway, tonight, after having looked on the internet and discovered that a new key would cost over 300$ (it's one that starts the car from a distance as well as remote locking), Jérémie went outside and after quite a bit of digging around the car he found the key!!!

That's all for now!
