Tonight Indiana and I picked Jérémie up from work as usual. We headed to one of our local supermarkets - Loblaw's - to do a little shopping.
No sooner did we enter the store than disaster struck... Indiana tripped and fell over. There was a large, long mat in the entrance to the shop which wasn't lying flat - the end had been partly rolled up. Indiana tripped on it and fell and started screaming and I mean screaming. She only ever cries like that when she is hurt.
While Jérémie picked her up I went over to Customer Services and advised a member of staff as to what had happened and asked them to do something about the mat, which had proved to be a liability, literally.
Jérémie came rushing over, Indiana in his arms all bloody. There was a lot of blood and I panicked. At first we thought that she had broken her nose and then we thought that she had knocked her front teeth out.
It was a very scary few seconds as we tried to establish what was wrong.
It would seem that Indiana's teeth are intact although I am petrified that one is going to fall out at any moment, and that her upper lip is badly cut on the inside.
The employee at customer services was frankly useless and when we asked her for a tissue and some assistance, she pointed us to the toilets...
Within a few minutes of being cleaned up, Indiana was laughing again, but has a fat lip now. I gave her some Paracetamol before bedtime.
I am cross and angry that no one came to apologize, nor to enquire as to whether Indiana was OK or whether she needed medical assistance.
I have posted a complaint on the company's website, and I hope that if nothing else, I at least get an acknowledgement.
I'll keep you posted.
