Exploring...

Last night (Thursday) we ordered food in. It's Jérémie's way of contributing to the cooking (only joking...!!!). We ordered from St Hubert. Basically you can have anything as long as it's chicken. Here is their website, if you're interested: http://www.st-hubert.com/FR/Accueil

I am, at the moment being indulged with Small Naughtiness. I am sure that my friend Helen will totally understand what I mean by this and will offer her sympathy
So today (Friday) I ended up getting a bit cross and to make matters worse Indiana decided that an afternoon nap wasn't going to be part of her schedule. There is a reservoir about 2km from our appartment so we went for a walk around there. There are so many snow geese on the water that it was totally white!!
So now that Indiana is asleep (got her in the end!!!!!), I have a bit of time to come on here!!

The geese:

Some random thoughts for today are:

In terms of grocery shopping, I have to say that it is no more expensive in France, if not cheaper. Some things are a bit pricey (imported goods such as Cadbury's fingers and Nutella - I checked the prices out and DIDN'T buy, by the way ;) ) but I think that food is generally cheaper. Wherever you go you can buy food, even if it is just chocolate bars. We went to a TV store yesterday evening and they had a small selection of chocolate bars for sale on the counter.

Anything electrical - from TVs to kettles and toasters to fridge/freezers - is definately much cheaper than in France - not to mention bigger. Baby stuff isn't too expensive either, but like anything it all depends on where you shop 8-)

Although everyone I've spoken to round here has been francophone so far, lots of people have told me that they speak English and even if they don't they certainly understand when they hear me talking to Indiana
There are several bilingual schools which, if we're still here in a few years' time, we will look into for Indiana. Here's one of them: http://www.zigetzag.com/

Today I bought some paper lunch bags, you know, the sort that you put your sandwiches in. In the movies, moms pack their kids lunches up in them and said children grab their bags on the way out of the door!! I make Jérémie a sandwich for lunch every morning. The bags seem so much more classy than having your sandwich squashed in clingfilm :rofl
Another thing that will make my American friends chuckle: I went to buy eggs at the grocery store. Every time I buy a box of eggs, I always open it and inspect each one to ensure that it is not cracked or broken.
The eggs here are white! I mean, the shells could practically glow in the dark
I was telling Jérémie: you know in movies (I'm so educated, aren't I???!!  :tongue1 ) when you have a bedroom scene and naughty things go on etc... Well afterwards the guy gets up and goes to make breakfast - usually omelette or something with eggs and the egg shells are ALWAYS white ;)
Try to find an American movie with brown eggs....!

When I told this to Jérémie he said : "is that a hint to get me to make you pancakes for breakfast?"

Oh, and you can buy Coca Cola in the small glass bottles here - don't see them much in France.

Today a guy moved into the appartment above us. A man knocked on the door and it was actually the guy who owns the place (I'd not yet met him  ) and he asked me if I could move my car so that the removal truck could get as close to the steps up as possible.
I was just feeding Indiana her lunch so asked if it could wait a minute. They guy offered to move my car himself so I gave him the keys. I was just thinking to myself "what a nice man, how helpful" when I saw our car go shooting past the lounge window and suddenly thought "OMG I don't even know who that guy really was and now he's gone off with my car eeeeeeeek"!!!!
Well, two minutes later said guy was back with the car key, having parked up out front. Phew!!

Tomorrow is the weekend and we're hopefully going to go and visit a nearby town en famille :t-
